Greetings! Welcome to the home of Body-Mind Exercise, aka Taichi Light. You are about to learn something that will benefit you the rest of your life.

BME, the Body-Mind Exercise, is a 15-minute self-renewal daily exercise routine developed based on the ancient Chinese Taichi and Qigong traditions.

The practice of Taichi and Qigong has been popular in China for centuries, and has been proven by health and medical experts in the West to be effective in reducing stress, anxiety and depression, improving cardiovascular fitness, balance and coordination, increasing body flexibility, energy and the general feeling of well-being, and relieving chronic pain. BME helps promote good health, good spirit and a peaceful mind.

As a simplified form of Taichi and Qigong exercise, BME is beneficial for people of all ages, but especially ideal for busy executives and professionals working in a high-stress environment. It is also ideal for older adults who want to remain physically fit and prevent falls, all for 15 minutes a day.

For everyone who wants to learn the traditional Chinese Taichi and Qi Gong to maintain good health and good spirit but doesn't have enough patience, can't follow through the long sequences of poses, or can't devote enough time to go to classes, Taichi Light is the perfect alternative.

That is why BME is also called “Taichi Light”. (Please Note: BME and Taichi Light will be used interchangeably on this website.)

BME uses the same principles of traditional Taichi and Qigong teaching, and turns some of their key poses into a series of simple, repetitive movements that can be easily memorized and followed. A determined learner could follow a video and learn the exercise without an instructor. Since practicing BME requires very little space, it can be practiced almost anywhere: in your backyard, living room, porch, kitchen, or office.

BME consists of 18 simple physical movements (or poses) arranged in a prescribed sequence. Each movement is repeated six times (or cycles) and then flows smoothly to the next. The entire exercise takes only 15 minutes during which the exerciser would maintain an uninterrupted flow of deep breathing at the rate of one breath-in and one breath-out per cycle. As each movement is performed, the exerciser would also focus his/her mind on a specific mental picture associated with that movement. All movements are performed in a slow motion so you will actually feel like dancing.

The mild physical movements help stimulate blood and “chi” circulation, invigorating your body's general vitality. They also help strengthen your joints, improve your sense of balance (especially in the case of seniors), and improve the general pliability of your body. The continuous deep breathing for 15 minutes provides your body with increased oxygen intake, and helps increase your lung capacity over time. Deep breathing also has a calming effect on the nerves. Finally, the mental imageries give your mind a "mini vacation" by focusing it on simple, happy and peaceful thoughts.

With daily practice, the average consistent exerciser should be able to memorize the movements within one to two weeks and be able to start enjoying and benefiting from BME within a month. However, full benefits can only be obtained after long term and consistent practice.
